In the EU alone, food service sector wastes 11 million tonnes of food every year. Food waste is not only a major ethical-social problem but also a huge market opportunity estimated at EUR 20 billion in Europe alone.

 

ResQ is a young company based in Berlin and Helsinki, whose business model focuses on reducing food waste (and CO2 emissions) through a digital platform that connects restaurants with users. The company has developed a digital platform with already 140,000 registered users in Finland, Germany and Sweden after about 18 months of business, offering to users the opportunity to conveniently buy quality food at a fraction of the original price. For restaurants ResQ offers an alternative revenue source, positioning as a sustainable brand and access to a new interesting customer segment.
